Dutch Deadline is a weekly newsletter that provides context and perspective on the hottest topics in Dutch news, society, and culture. In English. Obviously.
I also share lots of links and recs to my favorite movies, series, podcasts, and music.
The topics I write about often include, but are definitely not limited to:
🧀 Dutch Politics
🍿 Movie reviews
🌷 Immigration
💊 Crime, particularly drug crime
💰 Big Dutch business
🇪🇺 International relations, war, NATO, etcetera
🇳🇱 Cultural quirks
Why we’re here
I’m originally American and have been living in the Netherlands for almost ten years. I became a Dutch citizen in 2023. As much as I tried to follow the Dutch news when I first moved to Amsterdam, something was always missing for me as an outsider. I needed more context. I always needed real people to explain what was going on behind the news—reading articles alone wasn’t enough.
With Dutch Deadline, I aim to provide this kind of clarity.
