The Dutch tend to be straight in preference to being polite, true enough, but many are like the Danes described as well. We only have to look at the last elections to see that the ‘problematic’ Dutch are just over 30% - I have worried all my life, but I am not yet ready to give up on the Dutch (I know the author had no intention of dating a whole nation).

I had assumed that candles "scented" with synthetic versions of pastoral smells *were* a specifically American thing.
